Your account. A username and display name, a password (stored only as a secure hash — we can never read it), and optionally an email address and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive your name and profile information from that provider instead of a password. Apple may share a private relay email rather than your personal address; Google and Facebook typically share your email and profile picture.
Your area. The city, suburb, or map point you choose so we can show events and places near you. We only store what you set — PlayHere never tracks your location in the background.
What you do on PlayHere.Events you create and join, attendance and reliability history, circles and places you're in, comments, chat messages, friend connections, notification preferences, and reports you submit.
Notifications. If you add an email address, we may send password-reset messages and optional notification emails (event updates, friend requests, and similar — each type can be turned off in Profile → Notifications). On the iOS and Android apps, if you allow push notifications we store a device token so we can deliver alerts; you can turn push off in your phone settings or by signing out.
Technical basics. A session cookie that keeps you signed in, error logs that help us fix crashes, and cookieless page-view analytics (Vercel Analytics) so we can see how the site is used. No advertising trackers and no cross-site profiling.
To run the product: showing nearby events and places, letting hosts see who's coming, delivering the in-app, email, and push notifications you control in settings, and keeping the community safe by acting on reports. That's it.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything unrelated to running PlayHere.
Your display name, photo, favourite activities, and reliability stats are visible to other signed-in users. Events you host or join show you as an attendee — except private circle events, which are only visible to that circle's members. Messages go only to the person or group you send them to. Public events (name, time, venue, attendee names) are visible to anyone with the link so invites work.
Your data is stored in a Neon PostgreSQL database and served through Vercel; profile photos are stored on Vercel Blob. Transactional email is sent through Resend. Native push notifications are delivered through Firebase (Google's messaging service for iOS and Android). Map imagery is loaded from CARTO/OpenStreetMap, which receive standard web requests (like any image on any website) but none of your account data. Sign-in with Google, Apple, or Facebook is handled by those providers under their own privacy policies.
You can edit your profile, change your area, and turn notification types off at any time. Deleting your account (Profile → Delete account, or see delete your account) permanently removes your profile, your events, your messages, and your participation history — it is not a soft delete.
